About Empath UK

Empath UK was founded by Peter Fayle in October 2009, obtained charitable status from the Charity Commission of England and Wales in March 2010, and went active in January 2011.

There are two trustees on the board, which will expand to around eight in due course. Empath UK has no paid staff, and all work is undertaken by one of the trustees on a part-time basis.

Empath UK currently receives no funding from third parties, which will continue to be the case while we build our donor base. Our web-based business model is intentionally designed to run at low-cost, and the core running and development costs are currently borne by the founder.

Empath UK may retain a small proportion of donations to cover processing costs. This amount will vary depending on the donation method used, but will be in line with other charities. The sector average currently stands at 10–20%. The grants we make cannot be used by other charities to cover their fundraising costs.

This initial phase sees Empath building support for new, core ideas in charitable giving. The ideas of group giving work with groups of any size, but building up to a large scale will unlock advantages that have never been seen before.
