Who is this for?
Anyone who would just like to give to charity. You might feel a moral pull, or it might just be something you want to do. Whatever your reason, we’re here to ensure your donation is effective but straightforward for you.
-
How are you funded?
At present Empath UK is funded entirely by its founder. No part of your donation is retained by us. This will remain the case until we reach our initial targets.
-
How do you split my donation?
The board of trustees decides how to split funds, and their objective is to make this distribution fit with donors’ wishes and expert opinion.
-
Why is this necessary?
Current options for giving to charity are effectively limited to choosing one charity at a time. We consider this to be inappropriate given the huge number of charities and causes. It gives individual donors mixed feelings about the value and effect of their contribution, and even stops many people giving at all. Our approach is to enable people to reach many causes at a time, with a quick and easy process that meets their needs.

I already give to charity. Why would I want to give your way?
People give to charity in two ways. First, they give to causes that they have a particular, personal attachment to. Second, they want to give generally, covering all social issues. This entails hundreds of thousands of causes, which individual donors cannot cover completely on their own, but we can together.

How does this affect existing charities?
We aim to provide stable income streams to charities, by offering recurring grants. In the long run this will mean increased stability for small charities and less dependency on fundraising.
